Brake pads create the resistance needed to stop when pressed against the rotors connected to the wheels. Front brake pads are positioned at the front wheels. Front brake pads often wear down faster than rear brake pads due to handling additional front axle weight and more intense friction. When the front brake pads are worn but the rear pads have sufficient thickness, the routine maintenance needed is a front brake pad replacement.

Worn Front Brake Pad Indicators

Brake pads are worn when they measure as little as 3mm or .1in. Although they will continue to perform as needed, they will wear down until nothing remains but the steel support plate striking the rotor. Replacing brake pads as recommended will prevent brake system damage and unsafe driving. Be sure to get a brake pad inspection and corrective brake pad maintenance as needed if you notice any of these worn front brake pad indicators:

• Eardrum-piercing metallic screeching
• Brake pedal feels soft or spongy
• Dashboard warning light
• Vehicle pulls when braking
• Scraping or grinding noise when braking

Service is completed in a state-of-the-art facility by certified technicians and genuine OEM parts. We remove the front brake pads from the caliper. We inspect the brake system calipers, rotors, lines, fluid, and hardware. We will also inspect the tires for irregular wear, measure tread depth, and check pressures. We install new OEM front brake pads to specifications.
